Sicily. Panormos as Ziz. AR Litra, c. 400-380 BC. Obv. Youthful male head to left. Rev. Ba'al of Ṣyṣ, as androcephalic bull standing left, head facing; Š BA'AL ṢYṢ (in Punic) in exergue. Jenkins, Punic p. 75, 12 var. (swastika on obv., legend above on rev.); CNP 395; HGC 2, 1050 corr. (litra) var. (same). AR. 0.77 g. 11.50 mm. RR. Rare and superb, with delicate old cabinet tone. EF.
Anomalously missing from both Jenkins and HGC, as the type was first published in BMC Sicily in 1876 (no.'s 27 & 28), numerous examples of the type can be found in CoinArchives.
